How to assign more Operators to a Job failure alert ?

Hello,
I'm using SQL Server 2000 and have defined 3 Operators that need to receive
alerts from shecduled jobs.
We have chosen to go with 'Net Send' type of alert.
Inside each scheduled job, under Notifications Tab, it doesn't give me a
choice to add more operators upon failure of this job, nor does it allow me
to run a script (a batch file that I would include Net send commands to 3
Operators).
Is there a quick way to resolve this without installing Notifications
Services ?

We use netsend operators at work but rather than using seperate mail
accounts, we use a mail group, that way you can send to more users.

|||The built-in mail feature of SQL Server 2000 only supports MAPI. There are some workarounds
(http://www.karaszi.com/SQLServer/info_no_mapi.asp), but we finally got SMTP support in 2005.

|||The reason we went with Net Send was to avoid MAPI setup on the server. But I
guess, I'll develop custom-code to handle this.

How to add an identity PK column to a View

For an ASP.net project, I have had a DropDownList with a static ArrayList.
The ArrayList will be defined from a View, where there is no Identity PK.

I also have used cbxDropDownListName.SelectedIndex to add new data to
a table, where an Indetity PK is used to reference the ArrayList.

I am wondering how can I add an identity PK to my view?

Why don't you select an identity column from one of the tables in the view? Pick an identity column that, by the view definition, would be unique in the view result set.

How to access underlaying DataView of SQLDataSouce in its Selected event

I need access to the underlying DataView associated with a declaratively defined SQLDataSource. Ideally, I need this access in the SQLDataSource'sSelected event. I know that I can use the SQLDataSouce.Select()method to return the underlying DataView object. But, there is a GridView control bound to the datasource so I don't want to explicity call Select() since it will end up being called again implicity by the gridview itself. I have seen that this can be done with an ObjectDataSouce as follows:

void odsDataSouce_Selected(object sender, ObjectDataSourceStatusEventArgs e) {
DataView oDV = (DataView)e.ReturnValue;
}

Is there any way to accomplish the same thing with a SQLDataSouce? It seems hard to believe that the query results are not exposed to the Selected event.

I saw your post about how to use a sqldatasource programmatically but that still involves using the select() method. In my situation a gridview is bound to the datasource so the select is implicit. I need access to the data in an event such as the selected event.

You cannot get to the underlying data the way that you want to. However...

By the time the selected event is raised, the grid will be populated, so you can iterate the rows and columns.

If you want to process the data BEFORE it is bound, then you wil have to create your own data table and fill this manually, process the data, then bind it. This is what we were mostly doing in ASP.NET 1.1 anyway.
