How to apply the snapshot manually ?
To apply the snapshot manually, you can:
Save the snapshot files to removable media such as a compact disc, tape device, or removable disk and then send the media to the Subscriber location.
Yes, but how to apply the snapshot then ?
(My snapshot folder is much smaller than backup file of the whole database.)
Thanks for any ideas.

how to add report "Templates" to list during wizard?
I know that with most of VS there are files I can copy and edit to do that for new projects, forms, classes etc...
where are they for new reports?Hi,
Well, it actually depends on what you are naming "templates" in the Wizard.
1- If you are referring to the Styles you see at the very end of the wizard, you can add new styles editing the following XML file:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies\Business Intelligence Wizards\Reports\Styles\StyleTemplates.xml
AND the equivalent ones located in the "resource" subfolders like:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies\Business Intelligence Wizards\Reports\Styles\en\StyleTemplates.xml
Of course, make a copy of each file before editing them.
the only caveat is that I do not know where the "preview" image is stored, therefore your style is "blind". May be you can invest some time to find out or someone can jump in with that info.
2- On the other side, if you refer to the "Table/Matrix" and "Stepped" Wizard tab, I gues it is hardcoded.
3- If you refer to the "item types" you can add when adding a new item (not in the wizard, therefore). You can follow Russell Christopher's in http://blogs.msdn.com/bimusings/archive/2005/12/06/500462.aspx

Yeah, I dug out my copy of the hitchhikers guide to sql rs 2000 and it has this info from the 2000 version and looks like it's almost the same in 2005.
by the way what I have is about 10-15 reports created by another dev where he created each one with a common look, font, page head, foot, title etc...
and the boss likes the look. that guy is now gone -- took a different job.
so I want to capture as much of his settings as I can so that when I create a new report I do not have to spend to much time just chnaging colors and fonts to match what he did.

How to add existing dtsx file back into VS project
I recently did a save as for my ssis project in VS. Now when I open my sln file, it doesn't show the previous package name, it shows the new name. This is not what I want. I thought that doing a save as would separate the new package name into it's own project.
I removed that package name from my solution explorer and tried to add back in the old dtsx filename under SSIS packages in Object Explorer. I did a right click on SSIS Packages and choose "add existing package", chose the old dtsx file. It created a whole new filename with (1).dtsx appended to it.
How can I get this project back where it used to be? I'm using VS 2005
It sounds like your package may be in the source control system already when you try to re-add it. Have you tried to right-click on the project and selecting Get Latest Version? That will ensure that you're in synch with VSS and then you could do you rename after you have that release.

When you do save as, it also changes the name in the solution, yes. The old package is still there, just right click on the project node and select Add Existing Package like you said, but then just rename the package when you load it.

How to add a new database with a new name by copying an existing datafile?
which I want to add to several other SQL Server at other servers with
another name of the database. What's the procedure to do this? I've been
experimenting with copying the datafiles but SQL Server reponses that the
file names or database name don't match.
regards,

Only if it is acceptable for the primary to be offline briefly.|||Hi Aaron,
I want to restore the database within SQL Server Management Studio. I can't
find the 'WITH MOVE' option. It only shows the following settings :
RESTORE WITH RECOVERY
RESTORE WITH NORECOVERY
RESTORE WITH STANDBY
I've tried first to have this done at the same server before I move to
another server :
-made a BACKUP of a resource database
-added a new empty database called TESTCOMPANY
-right click at the database TESTCOMPANY and choose 'RESTORE'
-choose to add from file and select the BACKUP file in the first step
-choose 'OVERWRITE THE EXISTING DATABASE'
Now, in case I set one the 3 listed recovery state, it shows error messages
right in the beginning.
What should I do?

Sorry, this is going to be like trying to swap out RAM through a USB port --
USB is a great technology but it does not cover all the bases, and the same
is true for SSMS. If the paths on the new machine and old machine are not
identical (and they can't be identical on the same machine), you will likely
have to get your hands dirty and learn/use the RESTORE DATABASE command.
